Marine joined CMEP in 2014 as a post-doctoral researcher on the project Conserving the Flora of Socotra: integrating evolution into conservation, funded by the Leverhulme Trust. She brings a wide range of skills to this program, including phylogeography, biogeography, population genetics, conservation biology, plant ecology, field survey, and biostatistics.
Marine completed her Ph.D. in 2014 at the Mediterranean Institute for Biodiversity and Ecology (Aix Marseille University, UMR CNRS IRD), the subject of which was to better define what intraspecific diversity of endemic plants, especially phylogeographical patterns and phylogeny, brings to the conservation of the Mediterranean Flora. Her research focuses on the ecology, evolution and conservation of plants, using DNA markers to study the structure of genetic diversity, especially phylogeographical patterns within species or among closely related species. She is also interested by spatial patterns of biodiversity at multiple levels (specific, genetic) and the use of evolution and genetic diversity knowledge to improve the conservation of biodiversity.
